A PAIR OF BLACK LACQUERED CANDLESTICKS
Japan, early Meiji period (1868-1912)
Each in black over red lacquer with engraved copper-gilt fittings, the cylindrical stem supported on a hemispherical base in the form of a stylized chrysanthemum flower and crowned by a chrysanthemum-shaped finial mounted with a gilt pricket. The box inscribed, 'A pair of chrysanthemum candle stands'.
HEIGHT 77 cm (each)
Condition:
Very good condition with minor wear. The gilt spike and bracket slightly loose. One dent to a stick.
With a fitted tomobako box with inscriptions.
