A collection of ephemera relating to Dodington House Gloucestershire and the Codrington family in particular, including 28 various letters, circa 1830 to Sir Christopher Bethell Codrington (1764-1843) MP for Tewkesbury (1797-1812), Plantation Owner (Antigua and Barbuda), MCC cricket player (5 x 1797), from Carr Foster (20), FD Foster, C Greenwood and William Codrington (8 variously), the letters from Carr Foster relating in the main to estate affairs and William Codrington and his career in the military, together with a leather bound wine ledger detailing wines in and out circa June 1845-August 1873 at Dodington House, detailing which wines were bought and drunk and with details of guests with whom it was taken and the movements of the various members of the Codrington family in conjunction with this, one volume "Dodington Settled Estate - Schedule of Real Property with Probate Value on the Succession of Sir Christopher Codrington 1929", produced by Young & Howes, Carlton Chambers, Bristol, with some handwritten notes throughout, estate map and key to wall map, provided by Burges Salmon & Co. of Bristol and a tooled and gilded leather bound volume "Dodington Estate Gloucestershire June 1949" detailing the sale of the greater portion of the Dodington Estate Gloucestershire, comprising an area of about 1505 acres, by Howes, Luce, Williams & Co. for the sale by auction at The Grand Hotel, Broad Street, Bristol on Thursday June 30th 1949, including 37 lots, together with the handwritten contracts for same and maps (Provenance: formerly the property of the Codrington family of Dodington House, Gloucestershire thence by descent to the present owner)
