CANANESE ART. Plaque (piece of furniture) carved in relief in a frame.
"Lady at her window": female head adorned with a heavy Egyptian wig revealing the ears and surmounting a balustrade supported by four colonnettes. Probably a representation of the goddess Astarte-hor.
Ivory.
Limestone deposit. Restorations.
Canaanite art, 9th-8th c. BC. 7.3 x 5.8 cm.
Similar plates from the Arslan Tash and Nimrud sites are in the Musee du Louvre and the British Museum.
