SOUTH ARABIAN ALABASTER BULL STELE


Ca. 1st century BC - AD 1st century.A rectangular-shaped stone stele with a high-relief depiction of a stylised bull's head with short, crescentic horns, large eyes and a rounded snout with accentuated nostrils. To the lower edge of the stele runs one line inscription in Old South Arabian script. Cf. Christie's Live Auction 2450, Antiquities, 9 June 2011, Lot 31.
